TOURNAMENT MODE: 2 Groups Swiss FIDE system 9 (nine) rounds & 7 (seven) rounds respectively:
· Group A: Open for all levels and ages (9 rounds) valid for FIDE and national rating,
· Group B: Open for beginners (children, who just started playing chess, up to 12 years old) (7 rounds). Valid for national rating only.

TIME CONTROL: 90 min for 40 moves + 30min till the end of the game & 30sec per move from move one. Recording of moves is obligatory for the entire duration of the game. Default time is 30 minutes; players arriving later will be forfeited.

A player entitled to more than one prize receives only the highest.

PAIRINGS – EXCLUSIONS APPEALS:

Pairings, results and other information can be found in the corresponding links on chess-results.com. Exclusions are allowed with a timely notification to the Tournament Director (10’ after the end of the previous round at the latest).

If a player doesn’t show up for a particular round he/she is expelled from the tournament, unless the Chief Arbiter decides otherwise.

 

APPEALS may be submitted no later than 10 minutes after the end of the round. A three-member Appeals Committee will be responsible for examining the appeal. Members of the AC related to the players involved will be exempted. The composition of the AC will be determined before the start of the tournament by the Chief Arbiter.
The appeal fee is set at 100€ and must be delivered to either the Tournament Director or the Chief Arbiter. Should the appeal be upheld, the fee shall be returned to the appellant; otherwise it is withheld by the organizers.

 

ACCOMODATION:

Heraklion offers a variety of accommodation possibilities. Please check an Internet booking site to find a room in hotels or apartments that suit your needs. Players and accompanying persons can freely choose their accommodation.

 

TRAVEL INFORMATION: Heraklion City is the “metropolitan” city of Crete. Playing venue is located just 3 km away from Heraklion Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” and 1km away from the port of Heraklion. The Heraklion Airport is a short 5km drive from the city center of Heraklion. There are more than 10 flights per day from Athens to Heraklion. TRANSFER: the organizers will provide free transportation from and to the airport (or port) to the official hotel for all foreign players.
